1 – Preparation Before Landing
Always prepare first:
- Wet the unhooking mat
- Fill a bucket with lake water
- Prepare sling and camera
- Keep fish in the net or sling until ready
Rule:
Never lift a fish without preparation.
2 – Safe Handling
Correct handling:
- Always kneelt
- Keep fish low over the mat
- Support with both hands
- Keep fish and hands wet
- If the fish struggles – put it back immediately

3 – Photography
Keep it quick:
- Camera ready before lifting
- Maximum 20–30 seconds out of water
- No multiple photo sessions
- Return fish immediately after photos
4 – Retention & Release
Retention Rules
- Retention sling only for short periods
- No sacks overnight
- Keep sling in deep water, shaded area
- Check fish regularly
Release Rules
- Hold fish upright in the water
- Allow it to recover fully
- Release only when it swims strongly
5 – Strictly Forbidden
- Standing with fish
- Placing fish on dry or hard surfaces
- Leaving fish unattended
- Keeping fish for long periods
- Multiple photo sessions
- Night retention without permission

Every capture must be treated with care.
